The Student Hotel is a comfortable, safe and fun place to sleep, eat, drink and make friends for life. The Student Hotel biedt volledig ingerichte kamers voor internationale studenten voor een periode van 5-10 maanden (1 of 2 semesters). Vrijwel alle kamers bieden toegang tot een luxe gezamenlijke keuken of zijn voorzien van een eigen kitchenette. Daarnaast is een deel van de accommodatie gedurende het gehele jaar beschikbaar voor regulier hotelverblijf door toeristische en zakelijke hotelgasten. Een deel van deze kamers wordt aangeboden voor residential short stay; hierbij richten wij ons op expats en (young) executives voor een verblijf vanaf een week tot maximaal 12 maanden. In juli en augustus zijn vrijwel alle kamers beschikbaar voor reguliere hotelverhuur en short-stay.
The Student Hotel is een ambitieuze, snel groeiende hotel organisatie met vestigingen in Luik, Den Haag, Rotterdam en Amsterdam (circa 1.650 kamers). In Augustus 2015 opent The Student Hotel Amsterdam City (570 kamers). Het is onze doelstelling om 10.000 kamers te exploiteren in Europese universiteitsteden in 2020. Job Description
We are looking for someone with stacks of experience who can help put our newly branded F&B concept on the map. It is critical that you can bring a great sense of ownership and personality to the team and lead the kitchen operations at one of our locations to help make it a massive success.
You have the knowledge and experience to build the reputation of the kitchen operations. A real passion for the Mediterranean kitchen and your natural leadership skills will mean huge success. You will be in the spotlight at centre stage in the restaurant. This is an opportunity for you to solidify your reputation in the food industry, teach others and build a legacy for many years to come.
Your responsibilities will includeOverall responsibility for daily operations in the kitchenResponsibility for the culinary standards of the restaurant, cost control, collaborating with the F&B Director in menu development with innovative and sensational dishes, taking into account factors including seasonal availability and the number of customersSet and maintain the quality standard for the kitchen teamManage, train and recruit a brigade of chefs to ensure a real sense of passion and communityEnsure compliance with all government regulations concerning health, safety, or other requirementsResponsibility for maintaining and building relationships with food suppliers in line with company policyWork closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure a smooth and (highly!) profitable overall operationMaintain food GP in line with company policyMaintain staff payroll, monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on food & waste and labor costs
Job Requirements
You haveAt least 5 years of relevant management experience in various kitchens, preferably internationallyExcellent planning skillsFluent in English (and Dutch) skillsFood Safety Level 3 or an equivalentA passion for the Mediterranean cuisineExperience in coaching and educating interns
You are Proactive with an innovative mind-set focused on constant improvementComfortable in an ambitious and informal working environment with team members from around the worldComfortable dealing with time limits and high quality standardsA source of inspiration as you lead and motivate the kitchen team
